SYNOPSIS
After drunkenly crashing his car, Miles is now estranged from his wife and son and must learn how to heal from the consequences of his past with the help of a persistent new friend.
STORY
This is a story about shame and forgiveness. Not the forgiveness we extend to others, but the kind we have to give ourselves before we can rebuild.
Miles is a husband and father whose drinking costs him his closeness with his wife and son. He spends the next two years alone, buried under what he's done, until a coworker named Ken refuses to let him stay there.
As the two men spend more time together, we learn that their stories may have some similarities which opens Miles up to hearing what Ken has to say.
The Course You Chose matters now because people need to know they are seen in their lowest moments, and that it is never too late to change. Sometimes what it takes is one person who believes in you before you can believe in yourself.
Audiences will find themselves somewhere in this story. Some will see themselves in Miles, who has blown up his life and has to learn to forgive himself. Some will see themselves in Emily, who has lived through broken promises and the slow loss of hope. Others will see themselves in Ken, who notices someone going under and decides to do something about it.
Whoever they identify with, the takeaway is the same:
“One degree is all it takes. If you angle yourself even one degree towards the shore you'll make your way back. You wont end up where you started but it'll be better than out there.”
